Sharib Hashmi was born on 25 January 1976 in Malad, Mumbai to a middle-class Muslim family. His father was an entertainment journalist by profession, who used to cover news updates related to the Hindi film industry. He has 3 siblings three sisters and a younger brother named Shakil Hashmi.

Sharib studied at St. John Model English High School in Mumbai. He has got a graduation degree from Bhavans College, Mumbai.

Career

Sharib started his acting career as a supporting actor in Oscar award-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, for which he got audiences and industry appreciation. Before this, he worked as an assistant director in the Govinda and Urmila starrer Hum Tumpe Marte Hain. Sharib was also a part of the national award-winning film Filmistan, in the supporting role of ‘Sunny’. His popular films are Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Nakkash, Phullu, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, and Ujda Chaman.

He has also worked in web series like Asur, Scam 1992, The Family Man, and A Viral Wedding. He has also written scripts for the episodic shows aired on youth-oriented channels like MTV, Channel V, and Bindass TV.
