6. Nayakan/Dayavan:

This Kamal Haasan starrer movie is a crime drama directed by Mani Ratnam. The movie is based on the real-life Bombay underworld don Varadarajan Mudaliar. This movie sympathetically depicts the struggle of South Indians living in Bombay. Kamal Haasan played the role of Very Nayakan and his performance in the movie earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Later another movie named Dayavan was made by Feroz Khan with the same storyline but Vinod Khanna as lead.
