Karan Johar may have had to stomach having his script for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai being rejected by multiple actors in a row, but given the cult success of the movie, we’re guessing he can sleep extremely easy at night. Here are seven Bollywood celebs who actually rejected this 1998 blockbuster:

1. Twinkle Khanna

Karan Johar may have gone as far as to name Rahul’s initial onscreen love interest Tina as an ode to his childhood friend, Twinkle Khanna, but the actress politely turned down the ace filmmaker as she didn’t find the role intriguing enough.

2. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

SRK’s Mohabbatein co-star apparently turned down the blockbuster movie after being offered the role of Tina – As revealed when Karan Johar reminisced, “My maid came and told me, ‘Aishwarya Rai ka phone hai.’ She said, ‘Karan, I was really excited and really liked your script and would have done it, but I am shooting in 7 continents for Jeans, so can’t do it.” I told her I want to thank you. The fact that you are not doing it does not make me as sad as the fact that you have called me has made me happy.”
