Arora was born in Mumbai to a Malayali mother, Joyce Polycarp and a Punjabi father, Anil Arora. She featured in ads for popular brands like Ponds, Elle 18, After Smoke, and Sunsilk fruitiness. Amrita made her acting debut opposite Fardeen Khan with the film Kitne Door Kitne Paas, which was a dud at the box office and her first successful flick was Awara Paagal Deewana. The actress was involved in a controversy over a twenty-seven minute sex scene in the movie Red -The Dark Side that also starred Aftab Sivdastani and Celina Jaitley.
