The actor is today celebrating his 75th birthday. But he got life again by defeating death many times in his life. Yes, while shooting for Coolie in 1982 the actor had a near death experience.

1982 Coolie accident


During the shoot of ‘Coolie’ in Bangalore, he was seriously injured in a fight scene with Star Punit Issar. Myasthenia Gravis, an ailment which struck him after the fatal accident, the disease makes one feel weak and the person keeps dropping his head but he was able to recover as it was in remission state. He was admitted in ICU. The doctors and his family had lost hopes as his breathing gets stopped for about 15 minutes. But like a miracle he came back. He got a new life. That year, the whole of India prayed for Amitabh’s life.

After coolie incident, Amitabh used to get sick. During that time, he had consumed so much medicines that he had a disease of Neuromuscular Element. During that time, he was unable to stand straight. At the same time, he had decided that he would no longer do films, but after the insistence of friend Tinnu Anand, he had completed the shooting of ‘Shahanshah’.
