Dangal featuring Aamir Khan broke all the records at the box office grossing more than Rs. 2000 Crore worldwide. The movie was based on the life of wrestler turned coach Mahavir Singh Phogat. Mahavir Phogat got just Rs. 80 Lakhs for his story to the makers.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag


Bhaag Milkha Bhaag made lots of money at the box office. The movie was directed by acclaimed director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The movie was based on the life of Milkha Singh, who charges Rs. 1 for his biopic. However, the 1 Rupee note given to him was a very rare one. The note given to him was printed in 1958, which is the same year he won his first ever Commonwealth Gold Medal in Independent India. Talking about the same, Milkha Singh has said that the money was never his priority, he just wanted Rakeysh Mehra to make a film for a future generation of India, which will inspire them to bring a gold medal for the country.

Paan Singh Tomar


Paan Singh Tomar was directed by acclaimed director Tigmanshu Dhulia. Irrfan Khan played the titular role of an athlete turned bandit Paan Singh Tomar. The movie was both critically and commercially successful.
